General Race Information
Q. When is the Race?
A. The Virtual Race will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020. The Race start time will be at 9:00AM.
Q. Where is the Race?
A. The Race will be virtual on Facebook Live
Q. How much is the registration fee?
A. Depending on which time of the year you register. Adult fees are $18, $23, $28. Children 2-12 are $15 any time and under 2 are Free.
Q. Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
A. No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the Race and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible.
Q. What is included in the registration fee?
A. You will get a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® and t-shirt, and items from our sponsors, an experience with an interactive app, plus a great feeling!
Q. How can I register?

Q. How will I receive my Race packet including t-shirt?
A. Race Store, at Carrefour corner of Poplar and Kirby in October. You may also select to have your shirt mailed for an additional fee.

Q. How can I become a volunteer?
A. We may be having a virtual event, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t need your help. Find a volunteer opportunity that’s right for you. There are many ways you can get involved, for more information, click here.
Q. What if it rains?
A. Komen holds the right to cancel or change the date or location of the Race in its sole discretion, including in the circumstance of extreme weather. It is likely, however, that the event will happen rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.
Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
A. You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just Imagine the IMPACT - If every Race participant raises just $100 in addition to their registration fee, we would bring in over half a million dollars in additional support local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community!
Q. Does the money raised stay right here in our community?
A. Funds raised help support Komen’s work to save lives through breakthrough research, advocacy and to support patients, including through Komen’s Breast Care Helpline, Clinical Trial Information Helpline, Treatment Assistance Program and other direct patient support services.
Q. Where do I send donations?
A. You may drop off or mail to our office: 6645 Poplar, Suite 211, Germantown, TN 38138. For donations on behalf of an individual participant or a team, please include that information with your check.

Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?
A. All donations on your behalf that are received by November 28, 2020 will be credited to your fundraising total.
Q. When will I receive my fundraising incentives?
A. Your individual fundraising incentives are calculated based on the total fundraising dollars you have collected. Incentives are mailed after the close of our Race fundraising season, and you can expect to receive your prize sometime in December. Prizes are not cumulative.
Q. What are some ways I can fundraise for my team/my individual goal?

Q. How do I use the Mobile App to Fundraise?
A. The Mobile App allows you to fundraise on-the-go and track your progress. You can also track your steps and learn more about the impact you are having to end breast cancer. View the Mobile App guide to learn more about the features of the app to help you make a greater impact.
Q. How do I track my steps using the Mobile App?
A. Connect to Apple Health or Google Fit to track your steps so your everyday walk or run can be one to end breast cancer. Make sure to allow access to ALL data for proper tracking.
Once connected, click the “Get Active” icon at the bottom to view your steps & activity challenges. Simply hit the Start button to begin recording your steps and select “Confirm” when prompted to save the information.
Check out all six available step challenge badges under the “My Challenges” tab, including the Finisher Badge for taking 6,000 steps to officially finish the Race for the Cure.
Q. Is support available if I am having trouble with the Mobile App?
A: Yes. In the top right corner of the App Home Screen click Settings (Gear Icon). Click this and then “Need Help?” to open the support portal. Search the app FAQ for an answer or open a ticket with our app support team.
Q. Do I need to mail in checks if I deposit them through the Mobile App?
A. No. You do not need to mail in checks if you have deposited them through the Mobile App.
Q. How do I form a team?
A. To be considered an official team, you will need 10 or more registered members by the morning of the Race. You can form a team or join a team online. For more information, contact us at 901-757-8686 or email@example.com.
Q. What are the benefits of a team?
A. Forming or joining a team multiplies the fun you will have on Race day. You can create a team to celebrate a survivor or honor someone you have lost. You can also create a corporate team and get your entire company involved. To learn more check out the Team Rewards page.
Q. Do teams have to fundraise?
A. Teams are not required to fundraise but we strongly encourage fundraising. Fundraising as a team can be fun. Click here to get a list of fundraising events your team can do.
Q. One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?
A. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 901-757-8686 to get this corrected.
Q. Can donations made to a team be split or shared among team members?
A. We are unable to split or transfer donations between individual and team accounts.

The participant with the most money raised on Race day will win this award! We will be on the lookout for the top fundraiser, no picture submission needed.
Most Creative Race Route – Presented by Baptist Cancer Center
You can run or walk your Race route absolutely anywhere - so get creative! Snap a pic of your route and tag us when you post to social media to be entered to win.
Most Creative Finish Line – Presented by Methodist Healthcare
We are looking for the participant that makes the most creative finish line to end their Race! Snap a photo and tag us when you post to social media to be entered to win.
Pretty in Pink – Presented by WREG
It’s time to break out everything pink! The best dressed person will win this award! Snap a photo and tag us when you post to social media to be entered to win.
Go Further – Presented by Memphis Magazine
The participant that walks the most steps on Race day will win this award! Snap a pic of your step counter on the Race for the Cure app and tag us when you post to social media to be entered to win.
Social Butterfly – Presented by FM 100
The participant with the most "likes" on any Race for the Cure picture on Facebook or Instagram that we are tagged in will win the Social Butterfly Award!
Best Team T-Shirt Presented by…..
The TEAM with the most "likes" on their Team T-Shirt in the 2020 Team Album on Facebook wins bragging rights for 2020!
HOW TO ENTER THE VIRTUAL AWARDS:

POWER IN PINK (POP) WEEK:
Komen Memphis-MidSouth Mississippi has put together a full week of activities to help us kick-off our first ever virtual Race. We hope you can join us during one or more of these online events and promotions as we celebrate our survivors, give strength to our metathrivors and those who are newly diagnosed, and honor those we've lost to the disease.
Monday, October 26th: Chalk Your Walk
Get outside and use sidewalk chalk to let your neighbors know you're racing with us on September 12th! Snap a photo and tag us when you post to social media!
Tuesday, October 27th: Something Sweet for Power in Pink Week
Create a Pink drink or dessert to Sweeten your week. Snap a photo and tag us when you post to social media!
Wednesday, October 28th: On Wednesdays We Wear Pink
Deck yourself out in all the pink imaginable! Tutus, wigs, shoelaces, whatever you have, we want to see you in it. Snap a photo and tag us when you post to social media!

Friday, October 30th: Light the Night Pink
Hang up pink string lights, put a pink light bulb in your outdoor lights, or tie a pink ribbon outside your home to show your support and remind your neighbors you are racing tomorrow. Don't forget to upload pictures of your lights to social media and tag us!
