Are we canceling our Event?
The health and safety of our participants, sponsors, volunteers and staff is our top concern. Therefore, our Komen Gulf Coast Race for the Cure will be held virtually on Saturday, October 3, 2020. Stay tuned to our social media channels, our emails and the Special Announcement section of this website for more event updates.
What is Susan G. Komen doing to combat COVID-19 and other viruses at our events in the future?
We will continue to follow current local, WHO, and CDC recommendations for combating COVID-19. As updates to protocol are recommended, we will provide additional information. This includes making the following special accommodations for our events:
- Hand sanitizer stations available across event site
- Additional hand washing stations available
- Electronic sanitizing wipes available to cleanse shared registration items
- Serving gloves for all volunteers handing out food or beverages
Can I get a refund of my registration fee if I don’t attend a Race or Walk event?
All participant registration fees are non-refundable, as per the waiver that you sign when you sign up to participate in this year’s event. Please contact the Komen Mississippi office at 601-932-3999 if you’d like to turn your registration fee into a tax-deductible donation to support our mission.
Can I still fundraise if I don’t attend an event?
Yes! While attending our event is the best way to celebrate together, you can still fundraise to help create a world without breast cancer. At the end of the day, it’s about what we make possible together through your fundraising.
While you might not be onsite with your community, you can create a community of your own through our online fundraising tools. Check out these tips to maximize your online fundraising:
- Customize your participant fundraising center so everyone knows why you support Susan G. Komen. Sharing your story is a big indicator of fundraising success, so make sure to share the link to your participant center through social media and email.
- Make sure you have activated your Facebook fundraiser through your participant center. Just login to your fundraising center at the top of this page and click the “Start a Facebook fundraiser” link. Make sure you invite your Facebook friends to your fundraiser and reshare often!
- Get creative! We know you may need to change your fundraising plans, but now is a great time to be creative with how you’ll hit your goal. Here are some upcoming events that might help you inspire others to give:
Can I still earn recognition items if I don’t attend a Race or Walk event?
Yes! All fundraisers qualify for our fundraising recognition program! Can’t make it to event? Contact your local Komen staff to redeem your t-shirt. For those of you who fundraise $250 and above, you will be contacted approximately 4 weeks after the event to redeem your thank you gift.

General Race Information
Q. When is the Race?
A. The Race will be held virtually on Saturday, October 3, 2020. Participants are encouraged to #RaceWhereYouAre and tune into the virtual program at 9:00 AM.
Q. How much is the registration fee?
A. Due to the Race going virtual this year, there is not a registration fee. However, participants that would like an event t-shirt are asked to donate or fundraise $100.
Q. What is included in the registration fee?
A. You will get a Race number, a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® t-shirt, and a great feeling!
Q. How can I register?

Q. How will I receive my Race packet including t-shirt?
A. You can either pick up your Race packet at our curbside packet pickup days (dates coming soon) or pay $10 when registering to have the packet mailed to you.
Q. How can I become a volunteer?
A. We may be having a virtual event, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t need your help. Find a volunteer opportunity that’s right for you. There are many ways you can get involved, for more information, click here.
Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
A. You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just Imagine the IMPACT - If every Race participant raises just $100 in addition to their registration fee, we would bring in an additional $100,000 to support local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community!
Q. Does the money raised benefit people in our community?
A. Funds raised help support Komen’s work to save lives through breakthrough research, advocacy and to support patients, including through Komen’s Breast Care Helpline, Clinical Trial Information Helpline, Treatment Assistance Program and other direct patient support services.

For donations on behalf of an individual participant or a team, please include that information with your check.
Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?
A. A. All donations on your behalf that are received by October 30, 2020 will be credited to your fundraising total.
Q. When will I receive my fundraising incentives?
A. Your fundraising incentives are calculated based on the total fundraising dollars you have collected. Incentives are mailed after the close of our Race fundraising season, and you can expect to receive your prize sometime in November. Prizes are not cumulative.

Q. How do I use the Mobile App to Fundraise?
A. The Mobile App allows you to fundraise on-the-go and track your progress. You can also track your steps and learn more about the impact you are having to end breast cancer. View the Mobile App guide to learn more about the features of the app to help you make a greater impact.
Q. How do I track my steps using the Mobile App?
A. Connect to Apple Health or Google Fit to track your steps so your everyday walk or run can be one to end breast cancer. Make sure to allow access to ALL step data for proper tracking.
Once connected, click the “Get Active” icon at the bottom to view your steps & activity challenges. Simply hit the Start button to begin recording your steps and select “Confirm” when prompted to save the information.
Check out all six available step challenge badges under the “My Challenges” tab, including the Finisher Badge for taking 6,000 steps to officially finish the Race for the Cure.
Q. Is support available if I am having trouble with the Mobile App?
A: Yes. In the top right corner of the App Home Screen click Settings (Gear Icon). Click this and then “Need Help?” to open the support portal. Search the app FAQ for an answer or open a ticket with our app support team.
Q. Do I need to mail in checks if I deposit them through the Mobile App?
A. No. You do not need to mail in checks if you have deposited them through the Mobile App.
Q. How do I form a team?
A. To be considered an official team, you will need 10 or more registered members by the morning of the Race. You can form a team or join a team online.
Q. What are the benefits of a team?
A. Forming or joining a team multiplies the fun you will have on Race day. You can create a team to celebrate a survivor or honor someone you have lost. You can also create a corporate team and get your entire company involved. To learn more check out the Team Rewards page.
Q. Do teams have to fundraise?
A. Teams are not required to fundraise but we strongly encourage fundraising. Fundraising as a team can be fun. Click here to get a list of fundraising events your team can do.
Q. One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?

Q. Can donations made to a team be split or shared among team members?
A. We are unable to split or transfer donations between individual and team accounts.
