In 2017, my precious mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 76. It was extremely hard for me to witness her go through her regimen. I have never felt more helpless in my life but my husband Michael (thank God for this man; my rock) and I did our best to provide her the support she needed Unfortunately my two sons and their families live out of town so they had to support us from afar. My sister-friend Karen who works at an oncology clinic and I were discussing Mom’s journey and how well she was doing. Karen told me that cancer patients never fight alone. It was the encouragement and affirmation that I needed we were doing okay! Thanks to a support system of other friends and my work family that kept me sane. When Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had already been through enough challenges in her lifetime to last a lifetime. However, she has a strong faith foundation and refuses to give up on life no matter the struggle. She is truly my Shero! The picture shown here was taken about one week after Mom had completed six weeks (5 days a week) of radiation treatment. We were trying out lipstick that she had purchased earlier that day while we were on Christmas vacation in FL. She LOVES makeup :=) This is just another testament of her will to fight the good fight. I am eternally grateful for the lesson this matriarch has taught our family. Thank God that today she is cancer free and living her life to the fullest every day. God is amazingly good and to Him be the Glory!
