Evelyn Reed received both her higher education degrees from Jackson State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with an emphasis in economics and finance. After a successful 27-year stint, she retired as a Special Assistant from the United States Probation Office, Southern District of Mississippi. Currently, Ms. Reed serves as an on-air personality at WKXI Radio (KIXIE 107.5FM) with Alpha Media, Jackson’s number one adult Rhythm & Blues radio station.
Ms. Reed was appointed to the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority, Board of Commissioners, and served a five-year term ending in October 2018. She served as Chair of the Board from October 2016 until September 2017. As an active member of the Commissioners Committee for the Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA), Commissioner Reed served with more than 400 airport Board Members and Commissioners to the nationally recognized ‘Voice of Airports’. In her capacity as liaison to the Marketing and Communications Committee, Commissioner Reed assisted in the development of aviation-related educational and policy programs for ACI-NA members. She also assisted in promoting public awareness of airports as economic generators for their communities.
A community activist and leader, Ms. Reed serves as secretary for the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Association for the Preservation of the Smith Robertson Cultural Arts Museum and the storied Alamo Theater. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Margaret Walker Alexander Center at Jackson State University and is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Jackson Metropolitan YMCA. Reed is an active member of several organizations which include: Rho Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; Jackson State University National Alumni Association; and the Capital City Toastmasters. Ms. Reed is a graduate and former Class Representative of Leadership Greater Jackson and a graduate of Leadership Madison County. She attends Anderson United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS.
